Client Overview
Rancho Laguna Mobile Estates is a peaceful, gated residential community located in Southern California. Designed for long-term residents, the property prioritizes comfort and safety. As the community grew and aged, management recognized the need to upgrade its security systems to protect residents, property, and shared amenities.
Challenge
The existing security system at Rancho Laguna was outdated and offered limited coverage. Key issues included:
Low-resolution analog cameras with poor nighttime visibility
No remote access to video footage for property management
Unauthorized entry through back gates and shared facilities
No formal access control system, leaving clubhouses, laundry rooms, and other shared buildings vulnerable to trespassers
The management team needed a reliable, modern solution to safeguard residents and improve operational oversight.
Solution
Ameritechs performed a comprehensive on-site security assessment and proposed a dual-phase solution:
Surveillance System Upgrade – Replace legacy cameras with high-resolution Uniview IP cameras, strategically placed to cover key areas like the clubhouse, pool, laundry room, and entry points.
Access Control Integration – Deploy a PDK™ (ProdataKey) access control system using card readers and cloud-based controls to secure building access and improve convenience for residents and staff.
Technologies implemented included:
Uniview 8MP Turret IP Cameras
License Plate Reading Cameras
Pan TIlt Zoom Cameras
Ubiquiti wireless bridges for long-range connectivity
PDK controllers and mullion readers
Solar-powered solutions for low-power, remote gates
Implementation
The project was completed in coordinated phases over four weeks:
Phase 1: Surveillance System Deployment
Replaced analog cameras at the clubhouse and pool with Uniview 4MP HD cameras
Added new cameras at the laundry facility, dumpster area, and perimeter gates
Installed Ubiquiti wireless bridges to link remote cameras over long distances (up to 1,000') back to a central NVR
Configured remote monitoring via mobile app and web browser
Phase 2: Access Control Installation
Installed electronic locks, proximity card readers, and exit buttons on six doors: clubhouse entryways, pool gate, laundry room, and a rear pedestrian gate
Deployed solar panel with battery backup to power the remote gate location
Connected all access control hardware to a cloud-based management system, enabling time-based access and audit trails
Ameritechs worked closely with the property manager to minimize disruption and provide on-site training to staff on how to manage both systems.
Results
The new integrated security solution brought immediate and noticeable benefits:
Enhanced visibility across the property with clear day/night video footage
Secure, trackable access to all shared facilities via resident-issued key fobs
Remote management for both video and access systems from any device
Improved peace of mind for residents and management
Future scalability with room to add more doors, cameras, or user groups as needed
