When the Security Problems Aren't Happening Near the Cameras
Mira Vista is a large mobile home community, and management had a problem: some of the areas they most needed to monitor were the areas where they had the least visibility.
The community only had a handful of cameras around the clubhouse. Meanwhile, an RV storage area farther out on the property had been dealing with repeated break-ins. People were illegally dumping trash in the community’s dumpsters. Golf carts had been stolen multiple times.
The challenge? Some of those areas had no nearby network connection and some didn’t even have power.
Getting Coverage Where It Was Actually Needed
Ameritechs started by identifying the areas management most needed to see, then figuring out the most practical way to reach them.
Using Google Earth, signal testing and line of sight checks, the team mapped wireless connections and relay points across the property. Ameritechs also coordinated with an electrician where bringing in power made sense.
And where it didn’t? Solar power and wireless connections made it possible to put cameras in locations that otherwise would have remained blind spots.
The system eventually expanded to roughly 30 cameras throughout the community, giving management visibility far beyond the clubhouse.
Keeping What Still Worked
Not everything needed to be replaced.
Mira Vista already had cameras from another manufacturer that were still usable, so Ameritechs integrated those live feeds into the new system rather than requiring the property to buy replacements.
Management can now view footage from across the community through an app, including areas that had previously been difficult to monitor.
More Control Beyond the Cameras
Mira Vista was also relying on an outdated key-fob system for shared spaces like the clubhouse and laundry room. Ameritechs upgraded the access-control system while keeping existing door hardware where possible. Management can now set resident access schedules, deactivate credentials instantly or schedule them to expire automatically. Vendors can also receive mobile access when needed instead of being given permanent keys or fobs.
“The biggest difference has been the visibility we have throughout the park. We can actually see what’s happening and better help our residents when issues come up. The Ameritechs team has been incredible, everyone is super professional, knowledgeable, and we love working with them.”
